Dr. Hans Leysieffer
Born 1957 in Munich/Germany I grew up in a scientific and engineering minded world, deeply impressed by basic physics and the beauty of natural sciences.
I studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich concentrating on cybernetics and psychophysics, mainly in the field of hearing and acoustics with the completion of a PHD in 1987.
I then entered the field of cochlear implants (electrical auditory nerve stimulation for the deaf and hearing impaired) and later founded my own company dedicated to research, engineering, and manufacturing of the world's first fully implantable hearing aid. My last business position was the global R&D top management of a leading Swiss company helping to make it world's number one in conventional hearing aids.
Mainly inspired in my youth by the famous nature documentaries of Jacques Cousteau I have always been dreaming of making professional, emotional, and inspiring nature movies ...
In 2011 I left my job and since then I have spent 100 % of my time in realising the dream as free-lance filmmaker, heavily investing in high-end cinematic digital film equipment and my own 4K HDR production studio in Zurich/Switzerland.
I have been living in Sardinia/Italy for some years and trained myself to become a serious cinematographer ... always hunting for that "magical light" early mornings, late afternoons, dark nights, and sometimes heavy storms. I spend many months traveling around Switzerland shooting the amazing landscapes of Engadin and Wallis, and in 2017 took my equipment for a 10 000 mile journey through the stunning sceneries of Iceland to complete my archive for the final production of my first feature film "Ars Natura".
